SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is about getting your website to rank well and appear higher in a Google search for increased visibility online. How to Implement a NoIndex Tag

The no-index tag is implemented on a page as a robots meta tag in the <head> section of an HTML code.

Robots meta tags are codes used to communicate with search engines a website’s crawling and indexing. These tags are not visible to users, but bots like Google can find them when crawling a page.

Depending on the CMS (content management system) you’re using this can look a bit different:

WordPress

To use a no-index tag on a page in WordPress, follow these steps:

Download Yoast
Go to a specific page (or blog post)

Navigate to the bottom of the page with Yoast SEO settings.

In the Yoast section, scroll down to “advanced”, and go to “allow search engines to show this Page in search results”.

Squarespace

To use a no-index tag on a page in Squarespace, follow these steps:

Navigate to “pages” in Squarespace.
Choose the page you wish to block.
Scroll down to the “SEO” section of the “page settings”.
At the bottom of SEO settings is a section called “hide page from search results”.

Go to the “Website Editor”

Then, click the “More Actions” icon next to the page you wish to block from Google.

Checking Whether Your NoIndex Tag is Working

Now that you’ve implemented your no-index tag, it’s time to check to see if it’s working. You can do this by using Google Search Console for your website, which is used to communicate with site owners how your website is being crawled and indexed by Google.

Then use Google Search Console URL inspection tool. This tool will provide specific information about indexing by page.
